Naz brought Persian Baklava to the celebratory potluck celebration, and says, "I chose this recipe because it’s something that my mother made in Iran and taught me to make here...it’s a recipe that our whole family loves. It’s the ingredients--pistachios, rose water, cardamom and honey-- that make this baklava Persian."

It's Persian because it uses flavors like pistachio and rosewater and cardamom and honey to flavor the baklava.
My mom taught me how to make it, and when we made this baklava, her grandkids, my kids, made it with us.
- All right, you can pass it down.
You can pass it down.
- So I'm really excited to share it.
(laughs) - [Lidia] Well, you can pass it down.
(laughs) We're listening!
(all laughing) We're waiting!
- I don't know if I'm gonna pass it on.
- I know!
(Nazanin laughs) (gentle upbeat music) - [Nazanin] And you can taste-test, 'cause we made some with pistachio and some with almond.
- Oh, beautiful.
- I think I'll go for the pistachio.
- Yes, me too.
- Okay, you too?
- Yes.
- Sometimes they have too much honey or too much... You know?
This is a real cake, really, yeah?
- I can feel the the rose- - Water.
- Yeah.
- Rose water.
- [Lidia] The rose, I smell the rose water.
- There's cardamon.
- [Lidia] That's why I see the roses is rose water.
- Mm.
